Our hotel’s favourites

Besides sun kissed tropical beaches and seafood, there are many other hidden surprises that make Rayong a great
place to visit! Life here remains simple and quiet, with beautiful unspoiled and relatively unknown National Park areas to explore.

In addition to other renowned places listed in key travel websites, we would like to highlight our hotel’s favourite places
in the area as well as the best restaurants recommended by locals. Some of the information here is not easily found on
other websites. We will update these recommendations from time to time. We sincerely hope that you have a great time staying with us, making your memorable trip

 LOVELY SPOTS
  Waterfall - KlongPla Kang

30 mins driving from Mae Pim or only 15 minutes from KhaoPraTun cave.

Most tourists know about the famous Khao Cha Mao waterfall, but only locals know about its brother “The KlongPla Kang”, which is only 3 km away. It is far from crowded, even during the long weekends.

KlongPla Kang is very well preserved. The walking path and the nature sites maintain their natural beauty. The water is full of river fish. Neither food nor drinks in plastic bottles are allowed inside so this little heaven on earth has been kept clean. All together are 7 levels of waterfalls. If you wish to go all the way to the 7th level, you would need to go for the whole day and make sure you have a hearty breakfast!

  Mangrove Forest

Discovering a Mangrove forest outdoor classroom only 5 mins driving from our hotel.

This new Mangrove forest natural classroom is one of our favourites. The local government has built a pathway 2 meters up into the woods. The walk would take about 20-30 mins. Along the way, you will find yourselves amongst Rhizaphora trees and some other evergreen species. Looking down you can see small Mangrove crabs running in and out of little holes. This will be an enjoyable and fairly short walk, although be sure to take water with you if it’s a hot day. And, if you’re lucky, you might get a free tour from the resident guide, a mysterious little red dog.

  Cave- KhaoPraTunTemple

60 km or 45 mins driving from Mae Pim.

A peaceful temple built into a beautiful cave. Many people come here to meditate or to pay their respects to a statue of Buddha. The entrance to the cave was formerly accessible only by way of diving through an underwater entrance and swimming around 50 meters into the cave. The temple has now cut out part of the rock, so that visitors can now row a small boat into the cave, or can even be entered on foot during the dry season.

  Cycling Route

5 minutes drive from the Mae Pim Hotel.

Take the Pae-Klang Krum road then take a right to Cha Ma Krud in the direction of the Fishing Park.

It’s a beautiful designated cycling route for keen  bikers pathway next to green fields and local residences. The path is around XX km long and will take no more than XX hours to get to XX.

A perfect way to explore the area and see how the locals live, for those who like the active lifestyle!

  KhaoLarm Pa Rod

5 minutes drive from the Mae Pim Hotel. Take the Pae-Klang Krum road till you reach the monument. Turn left on first street “Usarain”. Only 100 meters on the left hand side. (before Long Pa Restaurant)

Since the 1980

If you have not already done so, you should try the the Eastern special Thai dessert, “KhaoLarm”. This specialsticky rice is mixed with black bean and marinated with coconut syrup, and then charcoal grilled in bamboo stick. This has been made by Pa Rod for over 30 years. You could find this dessert in many tourist shops, but you can only have the freshly made version if you are in town on Saturday or Monday night. The taste of the fresh charcoal grill is indescribable. You must try it yourself!

The price is fairly cheap; 3 big bamboo pieces for only 100 baht.

  Long Pa Local Restaurant

5 minutes drive from the Mae Pim Hotel.Take the Pae-Klang Krum road till you reach the monument. Turn left on the first street “Usarain”. Only 300 meters on the left hand side.

Since 1999 the simple concept of this restaurant has been “Get lost in the jungle but still find easy delicious original local food and a very friendly welcome by the owner”.

The restaurant itself might not have caught your attention at first sight. However, once you sit and take a closer look around, you will see its charms. The owner “K. Tee” is a true nature lover and believes in going back to basics. His collection of handicrafts are created in his own workshop and decorate the restaurant.

The food is derived from a jungle concept. The owner's wife is the chef whose recipes have been passed down through the generations, while some have also been adapted from the owner's experiences of his life as a jungle tracker. It's where you find very local specialties with a distinctive Thai taste.
